In a Redwood Grove (an extended haiku)

In a redwood grove
Tall trees, needles, scent of pine
Sequestered carbon

Chickadee, nuthatch
Descendants of dinosaurs
So well adapted

Stream flowing, gurgling
Water moving to the Bay
An endless cycle

I’m just visiting
This place, this time, this planet
A transient form

The tiny spider
That fell and crawled on these words
My sibling in time

If I disappeared
Like the spider, off this page
I’d leave with a smile
